A direct line to popularity for many.
Hotline was Anaida tremendously popular debut album. HOTLINE showcased Anaida´s talent as a dancer at ease with both with Western and Indian styles. It was the first solo directorial venture of Ashish Chanana while Arshad Warsi the albums choreographer is now a film star. Anaida choreographed her own solo dances, a practice continued through most subsequent videos. Another memorable feature was the presence of Maria Goretti, the MTV VJ, and Luke Kenny, who became a VJ with Channel V later.

The rhythm that got the nation singing
This unforgettable hit presented Anaida as an actress at ease with comedy and in love with experimentation. "Everyone I met regarding the video took one look at me and all they could think of was this HOT video, where I am the dream girl and I am oh so sexy, blah blah," Anaida recalls. "That's not what I wanted. Then I met this new agency called Colossus, who hadn't made a single video or film yet. They said they wanted a simple girl next door look, innocent in love, etc. I heard their story, saw their storyboard, and decided, that's it." This was the debut video of directors Sanjay F. Gupta and Colossus.

India´s First animated 3D video
The first fully animated 3D video from India, scripted by Anaida herself, took over 6 months in the making, and won many awards including HOPE 96 for best animation. Out rightly funny, the video however included motifs that resurfaced in Anaida's more serious, later work. Descending from the heavens as a gift of God for the opposite sex, Anaida evokes passion in souls from the dead king in the Taj Mahal to a fearsome shark in the ocean! Allusions to history, mythology and contemporary world were frequent, and Anaida's act as a goddess before devoted priests foreshadowed her later crucifixion as a female messiah in QUEST.

Teaming up with Walt Disney
This was the first time that Walt Disney decided to make a language version of their hit song from the film The Lion King. Anaida was chosen to sing the song with Baba Sehgal. The song was accompanied by a video. Anaida had to proceed to the shoot despite a very high fever, a bad case of conjunctivitis and an injured foot! She often jokes about the dark glasses she sported during the video to cover her swollen eyes! |

Fusion of Greek and Hindi
Anaida describes the song, the accompanying video and the entire project for her as "magical." Sung in Greek and Hindi, this song was a dedication from Stefanos Korlokis , the Greek pop superstar, classical pianist and composer to the beautiful and talented singer whom he had invited to Greece to sing the duet for his forthcoming album. |

The video of the title track was co-directed by Anaida herself. The video also showcased Anaida's talent as an excellent choreographer for Arabic style of dancing, something she had displayed earlier in Love Today.

An Experimental Quest.
The video to accompany the track from Bombay Boys, was exceedingly experimental for the Indian market
but was well-received, becoming one of the most popular ones with the critics. The number was later re-recorded as the title song for Anaida's new maxi-CD, Quest. Part of the footage from the video is retained in the version accompanying the maxi-CD.

Simply sensational
The song and the video both followed a new trend in Anaida's career, so different from what she had done before -- as she put it herself, the video was "as simple as simple could get!" The song itself is Anaida's personal favourite among all Hindi numbers she has sung.
