Anaida says about
CHORI CHORI:
"I
think this album is very earthy, for me I wanted tunes
that go to my heart, stuff that you feel is familiar
with your soul, I wanted a certain rawness in it... I
feel my strength is the fact
that I sing with utmost feeling. I really feel what I
sing, I flirt with the words...! That's what I did to
'Oonchi Neechi,' that's the one that has me written
all over it, the soft side, the sensitivity, the
hesitation, it's very me! I think this album is also
about innocent love. I am sick of the speed everyone
goes about in their lives, that includes love. They
don't stop to taste what they are eating, they just
gulp it down to get rid of the hunger. They do the
same with love..."

The
Princess of Indian Pop
The leading Indian pop singer of today
made a blazing debut in 1995 with her hit single Hotline.
In the foreground of new liberalization policies of the 1990's Bombay,
Anaida's naturally mild looks and vibrant energies made her an icon
for the peppy, curious and yet essentially innocent Indian teenager
of the day against the more voluptuous variations available all over
the music channels. She made a heyday with 'Oova Oova,' which has
come to symbolize the spirit of a generation.
Since then, Anaida has
moved on... experimenting with Indian folk, Arabic pop and more
recently, the international progressive forms, which will most truly
be represented in her forthcoming album Quest.
Anaida's breathtaking
success as a music celebrity has understandably eclipsed her other
talents: writing, painting and poetry. She was an outstanding painter
before her music career took off and she is also a contributor to
many national newspapers and magazines. Her remarkable skills for
offering counseling and providing assistance to people in distress
have occasionally been called upon by various forums for people
in distress.
Albums
Anaida has released six albums since 1995.
Her maxi-CD Quest, released in Greece in August 2000, was
the first international album from an Indian pop singer.

Piya Bina
Anaida was the first Indian artist
to release a single. That was Hotline, in 1995,
incidentally her debut song. The remarkable success of that number
was followed by other singles such as Fever (1996), Diva
(1996), Hakuna Matata (1996), Hum Sab Ek Hai (1997), Anaida (1997),
and Piya BIna (2001). Out of these, Anaida
was a song in Greek and Hindi, the tribute of the classical
Greek pianist and composer Stefanos Korkolis to the versatile vocalist.
The song went gold in Greece.
Videos
Anaida brought her own style to the video
scene on Indian channels. With her versatile talents for acting and
choreography, she introduced a style that could be translated internationally.A
large number of current successful video directors have all had their
debut with Anaida. She has also teamed up with ace choreographers
like Saroj Khan.
A strong storyline, well-choreographed
sequences and a tight editing with an eye for the over-all impact
of the song is Anaida's contribution to the Indian pop scene. Her
personal involvement in practically each single area of production
went a long way to bring out that artistic unity which is the hallmark
of Anaida's video, and whose impact can be seen on the general scene
of ideography in India.
In 1997, she was the Indian pop artist
to release a video celebrating the Golden Jubilee (50 Years of Independence)
of India. The video, titled Hum Sab Ek Hai, featured
some prominent guests form the film industry, including Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan and Atul Agnihotri. The song was included in an album celebrating the
independence, Ekta.
To date Anaida has released twelve
videos, while her thirteenth will accompany the release of her international
album Quest.

Film
Hits
Anaida has rendered playback and soundtrack
vocals for some of the leading films. For the first time when Walt
Disney decided to release a soundtrack of one of their popular
films for India, they included a special Hindi song 'Hakuna Matata,'
sung by Anaida and Baba Sehgal. The song, included in the Indian release
of the soundtrack of Lion King, was also turned into a peppy
and playful video. Anaida's rendition of 'Quest,' from the alternate
movie Bombay Boys won her the favor of critics who were amazed
at her versatility. This was followed by 'Black is black' for another
alternate film, Split Wide Open.
Anaida's voice has also been borrowed
by mainstream Hindi movies. Among such songs are: 'You gotta fall
in love,' for Rajkumar Santoshi; a duet with Sonu Nigem, 'Tum say
achha kaun,' for Mujhe Meri Say Bachao; and 'Diwanee Diwanee',
for Chori Chori Chupke Chupke.

Live
Shows
The live performances of Anaida are defined
by her energy, her command over choreography and her instinct for
the stage. Anaida brings a presence to her shows that has been described
by many as a "thrill of a life-time."
Anaida has had many unforgettable
live performances, and some of them have gone down into the history
of the Indian pop. She was the first Indian singer to team up with
an international pop singer, and that was her duet with Peter Andre
for the Channel [V] Awards. She also sang the title song for Diva
Awards, the first ever music awards in India, as well as the Ford
Super Model Awards and the first-ever Indian pop show in Sri Lanka
and many Indian cities.
